Neurotoxin (aka Botox®)
Neurotoxin, also known as botulinum toxin or Botox®, works by relaxing the muscles that cause signs of aging on our skin over time, like wrinkles and creases. It can also be used to diminish the appearance of strong muscles, reduce sweating, or relax pulling of muscles to give a more lifted and youthful appearance.
Neurotoxin typically starts to take effect at ~5 days post-treatment, with maximum effect at 14 days. Longevity is typically 12-16 weeks.
When booking for neurotoxin services we will focus on your areas of concern, while also completing a full facial assessment for balanced results.

Smoothing Wrinkles & Skin
Our facial expressions combined with aging eventually leads to wrinkles and/or static lines (lines etched in the skin when we are not making those facial expressions). By relaxing the muscle, it allows those lines to soften, creating a more refreshed and youthful appearance. It can also decrease pore size to help skin appear more smooth.
Commonly treated areas for wrinkles include the forehead, between the brows (eleven's), and crows feet.
Slimming Effect
Certain muscles can appear bulky. By treating these muscles with neurotoxin and relaxing the muscle, this will cause it to atrophy or shrink, giving a more slimming appearance.

Commonly treated areas for this include the masseter muscles (chewing muscles) to help slim the face, and the trapezius muscles (shoulder muscles), to give a more elongated look.
Lifting & Tightening
As we age, loss of collagen and other supporting structures will diminish, causing a downward pull of certain features. Treatment of these muscles will relax this downward pull and allow for a lifting and/or tightening effect.

Commonly treated areas for this include the brows for a brow lift, treatment of DAO muscles releasing the downward turn of the mouth, and platysma bands known for causing jowling resulting in a tightened appearance around the jawline. The lips can also be treated to create the appearance of a fuller upper lip (lip flip), or relaxing the pull of the upper lip to correct a "gummy smile".
